My 8-page interview Carl Zeiss Staff Scientist Dr. Hubert Nasse is now online. I want to thank Dr. Nasse for generously sharing a lot of his time with me.

The interview is mostly a summary of our lengthy discussion, written in my own words and checked for accuracy by Dr. Nasse, but also includes some direct quotes from subsequent emails, for clarification.

I think it provides some additional insights into the development of the 15mm f/2.8 Distagon. And these are my own hopes: that the attention to optical performance shown with the 15/2.8 carries forward to other new designs, raising the bar on DSLR image quality to new heights!

Because of the strong demand from picky video users, I think it safe to say that the trend towards higher performance is here to stay. Along with higher prices to support the more difficult to manufacture designs.
