Nikon’s 24MP D3200 — Will the DX Sensor Have a Taste of D800 Quality?
I know I will not like the porthole viewfinder or the kit zoom, but given the superb quality of the Nikon D800 sensor, if that technology applies to the DX-sensor D3200, then the D3200 might serve as a nifty alternative for some specific portability needs (biking, etc).
At about $699 with the kit zoom (almost certainly a throw-away for the 24MP sensor), if the sensor is good, the Zeiss 25/2.8 Distagon or Zeiss 28/2 Distagon or similar might prove very interesting, which is why I might review the D3200, though I rarely do so for cropped frame cameras.
We now have a choice between a 24MP DSLR and a 24MP point-and-shoot style camera (Sony NEX-7). How will that play out? At half the price or less (with lens), the 24MP D3200 sure looks like a NEX-7 killer on paper, unless one does not want the DSLR form factor.
