Guide to Leica: Leica M Monochrom vs Sigma DP1 Merrill
With the 28/2.8 Elmarit-M ASPH, the Leica M Monochrom costs over $10,000.
Can the Sigma DP1 Merrill 14.25 X 3 megapixel point-and-shoot with its fixed 28/2.8 lens and Foveon “true color” sensor do a credible job of black and white imagery in such company? At about $999, it’s 1/10 the price of the Leica combo.
Leica M Monochrom vs Sigma DP1 Merrill in black and white.
This comparison will only appear in Guide to Leica, as it is primarily an exposition on whether the DP1 Merrill might be appropriate as a backup camera or alternate to the Leica M Monochrom. I will be publishing more wide ranging coverage of the Sigma DP1 Merrill black and white imagery potential in Guide to Mirrorless.
