Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM: Autofocus Portraits After Fine Focus Adjust
How well does the Sigma 35/1.4 DG HSM perform for close-range portraits after fine focus adjustment has been calibrated?
On the Nikon D800E.
Impressively well.
For close-range portraiture, I doubt there is a better 35mm lens out there today.
The Nikon D800E uses a 36-megapixel sensor. What is intriguing to me is that some lenses (like the Sigma 35/1.4) show a persuasive sharpness suggesting that a 72 megapixel sensor would have immedate and stunning benefits, at least over most of the frame and in a narrow zone of focus. But that that autofocus system needs upgrading for such a camera and must offer pinpoint spot focus to work ideally.
