Wide Angles in the Creek (Sony NEX-7, Touit 12mm f/2.8 Distagon)
Lighting was an undifferentiated drab yesterday, but I got out to try the Zeiss Touit 12mm f/2.8 Distagon and just have fun trying out the wide angle of view.
Indeed, it is really fun shooting wide this way! To forestall any autofocus errors, I used the EVF in magnified Live View to nail the focus every time: how I wish DSLRs would add an EVF in addition to the optical viewfinder!
The Sony NEX-7 + Touit 12/2.8 Distagon delivers some exceptional quality results comparable and perhaps better than most DSLRs: the superb contrast and color correction of the 12/2.8 Distagon comes through even under flat lighting conditions.
It’s an impressive combination and I look forward to seeing a future NEX with perhaps a 36 megapixel sensor, which I am sure would do just fine.
B&H Photo has the Zeiss Touit lenses for Sony NEX and Fuji X available for pre-order (they are due to ship to customers about a week).
