I’m preparing a batch of examples with the Zeiss 21mm f/2.8 Distagon, taken on the Canon 5DS R. The examples will be shown in Guide to Zeiss. The existing ZF.2/ZE 21/2.8 Distagon is supplanted by a newer model, the Zeiss Milvus 21mm f/2.8. It is the same optical formula, but with improved lens coatings that ought to eliminate certain “ring flare” issues in direct sun.
The results I’m seeing show that the Zeiss ZE 21/2.8 Distagon (the prior model) are just superb on the Canon 5DS R. The images I took with it are the most satisfying I took on the trip, and I had the Otus lenses with me.
I’d say this: the Zeiss Milvus 21mm is a must have lens for Canon or Nikon shooters (IN STOCK as this was written), or pick up the existing Zeiss ZF.2 21mm f/2.8 Distagon at a $300 discount + 4% rewards (still in stock as this was written).
