At 5°F or so, my hands don’t last long. Mid-day a balmy 9°F or so.

The Zeiss Milvus 100mm f/2 is a fine lens on the Canon 5DS R. Here, a bit of flare is caused by the exhaust from running vehicle—oops! Seconds later I moved the tripod and the glory had faded—dang!

The iPhone 6s Plus is terrific for close-ups in tight quarters that would be quite awkward with a regular camera. Too bad the iPhone camera placement is such a usability design failure (asymmetric placement of camera, just where fingers want to hold the phone).

Turns out that a 15" MacBook Pro Retina makes an excellent cutting board and lunch tray when out in the wilderness in the car in a snowstorm.
