With the challenges presented by the Sigma Photo Pro software when dealing with X3F raw files, Sigma sd Quattro users might consider JPEG if the image quality is there.
Includes the ten color variants, at up to full camera resolution.
JPEG quality is outstanding, seemingly the best in the business.
Accordingly, a viable usage for the Sigma sd Quattro is to carefully manage white balance and exposure while shooting X3F+JPEG Fine, or just JPEG. This bypasses the difficulties of using Sigma Photo Pro for X3F files.
As a bonus, a JPEG can be created in the camera from the X3F raw (), so that even SuperHi 7680 X 5120 JPEG can be generated if desired. Plus, all the processing parameters can be tweaked. So RAW+JPEG makes a lot of sense as a practical approach to shooting the sd Quattro.
