The medium distance series cuts through a complex forest scene and shows lens performance from f/2 through f/11. A lens that is sharp across the field is a big win for outdoor work. Here I might want crisp but not blurred water movement (without raising ISO), or I can trade that off for increased depth of field. The key thing is having a lens that can be shot wide open when needed knowing that image quality while not optimal will nonetheless be excellent.
