Zeiss Milvus 135mm f/2 Aperture Series: Small Creek Amid Trees (Nikon D810)

See my Nikon wish list and get Nikon D850 at B&H Photo.

The medium distance series cuts through a complex forest scene and shows lens performance from f/2 through f/11. A lens that is sharp across the field is a big win for outdoor work. Here I might want crisp but not blurred water movement (without raising ISO), or I can trade that off for increased depth of field. The key thing is having a lens that can be shot wide open when needed knowing that image quality while not optimal will nonetheless be excellent.

This image at f/4 was used in my Zeiss Lenspire article Zoom Lens or Prime? 135mm.

I look forward to seeing what the Nikon D850 can deliver for shots like this—only a week away!
