I was expecting my own D850 today, Monday Oct 2, which was already delayed from Friday Sept 30. UPS lost the package the very first day.
UPS has lost the package and has no idea where it is—investigation opened. GAH!
Update: the day was beautiful, water was crystal clear blue-green gorgeous and fishing was terrible, I caught only 53 trout in 5 hours—none over 12". Catching pellet-fed stocked trout is a nuisance; I wanted a juicy fat orange-fleshed hard-fighting salmon-like one like the 19" one I caught 10 days ago—delicious.
As for UPS, I learned two things this Tuesday morning.
- UPS still has no idea where the package is (I called this morning).
- UPS refuses to tell me if the package will be delivered or returned to sender if/when found, citing that protocol as a confidential contractual arrangement with the shipper. B&H closes tomorrow for 10 days (Succos), so the situation is hopeless.
- So at this point, I'm just going to assume it has vaporized never to return, and that B&H will hash out getting reimbursed by UPS.
I have another D850 on order from B&H, but given the 10 day Succos closing, I’m going to start looking for an alternate source as a backup plan.
UPDATE: UPS has found the package and it will apparently be delivered—one week late and now 300 miles away from me at home. But I’m planning on returning to the Eastern Sierra in 3-4 days, and I’ll pick it up then and hope that it is not a misaligned sample.
