Get Nikon 105mm f/2 DC at B&H Photo.
The Nikon 105m f/2 DC has a special ring on the lens that offers control over the amount of foreground and background spherical aberration. This alters the bokeh and sharpness of the image. Coming on the heels of the comparison of the Nikon 105mm f/2 DC to the Leica 90mm f/2.2 Thambar-M, I thought it would be useful to cover this “oldy but goody” lens design across the full aperture range.
This close-range aperture series compares the effects with the Nikon 105mm f/2 DC at its zeroed position and at the F (foreground) and R (rear) positions marked 5.6. The bokeh effects are thus bracketed by using these settings. Focus shift is commented upon also.
Includes images at sizes up to full camera resolution. The Nikon 105mm f/2 DC is shown at its 0/L/F settings at three apertures.
