NEC’s latest wide gamut color managed display is the about $1420 NEC PA271Q, offering a resolution of 2560 X 1440 in a 27-inch form factor. As a new release in late 2018, it offers a variety of additional professional features over the NEC PA272W, replacing it in the lineup:
I had occasion to use the NEC PA271Q on the 2018 Mac mini for about 6 weeks. It calibrated nicely and worked great*. While I prefer the larger 2560 X 1600 30-inch form factor of the NEC PA302W, the PA271Q would be an excellent pairing with the 2018 Mac mini.
While NEC claims 98.5% coverage of AdobeRGB for the PA271Q, this is quite an understatement as the color gamut of the NEC PA271Q greatly exceeds Adobe RGB into the red and blue axes, as shown below.
* Video wakeup issues of the quirky 2018 Mac mini aside. The Thunderbolt 3 chipset in the 2018 Mac mini seems to have issues with wakeup from sleep regardless of the the three types of video adapters that I tried. It is not an issue related to the NEC PA271Q at all.
