The 2019 MacBook Pro is a little faster, a little better, like every year’s upgrade. But only 6 months ago, I would have been thrilled to have the 6-core 2018 MacBook Pro shown below, as the 6-core 2018 MacBook Pro it is nearly as fast as a 2017 iMac 5K.
Sometimes you want the very fastest and the price premium makes sense. But it really gets down to whether it will make any real difference and whether price is of consequence (it is to me!).

For photographers, consider only models with 32GB memory and 2TB or 4TB SSD and at least 6 CPU cores—anything less is fine for casual use, but not as a versatile and always useful machine.
