Cold Storm Hits the Alabama Hills Area

Shot last night (and it rained all night too), this desert wash is normallly dry sand but was gurgling away all night and all the next day—such a pleasant sound and while out of place in the desert, quite a treat.

The full-resolution image is found on this examples page. I think that it’s quite beautiful in detail and subtle color and is razor sharp near to far as well, via focus stacking.

Fujifilm GF 50mm f/3.5 Examples: Alabama Hills in April

.... Dinner tonight was canned pink salmon (Demings is a good brand), canned beans with some habañero peppers I sliced in last night (a big mistake, I had to wear vinyl gloves this morning to get my contact lenses in, boy those things are HOT), Kombucha, two hard boiled eggs and avocado in sushi nori, rolled up and delicious with Himalayan sea salt. Oh, and half a bottle of W Donaldson sparkling wine. My wine shipment has been delayed, so that’s not nice at all. A case of a nice Cabernet would add some frosting to the cake, so to speak.

I am nearly out of fresh food (veggies, yogurt, avocados, eggs) and either have to eat canned food or go resupply within two days. So canned it is for a few days. I feel so damned lucky just to be here, self-isolating for half a mile or so from any other human beings (no one for days now).

As for mice, I am on my third. The first one harassed me for a week, then finally left. Or at least nothing stinks yet. The 2nd one I got in 5 hours at 4 AM (SNAP!) and the last one in 2 hours at 5:45 AM. Lousy sleep when those beautiful little natural perfections run around all night (I mean that, they are so well designed by nature and I do not desire to kill them, but it’s them and maybe hantavirus, or me, so death to all mice entering my van).

I wish all of you good health and happiness.
