Kudos to Really Right Stuff for the most excellent Really Right Stuff L-bracket for the Leica M10/10R/10M. It solves multiple headaches caused by truly bad design by Leica.
Without the RRS solution, there are two serious design problems: (1) no grip as in zero/zip/nada grip*, (2) impossible to get to the SD card or the battery without removing the tripod plate with an allen wrench (when one is using one as I always do). I’ve never seen a design quite so ill-conceived and it’s a huge hassle. Clearly the designers envisioned handholding only. I am not forgiving of their myopia.
Enter the modular Really Right Stuff L-bracket BM10 for the Leica M10/10R/10M, which adds a base plate, optional grip, and optional ‘L’ for vertical shots. No tools required to remove the entire assembly.
- CNC machined 6061-T6 aluminum
- Anodized; Type II Black
- 1/4"-20 threaded accessory mounting socket
- Laser engraved center mark
- Integrated QD (Quick Detach) socket
- RRS dovetail standard
* 3rd-party accessories from ThumbsUp are good, but are incompatible with the EVF, which I deem mandatory.
It also adds excellent protection to the areas of the camera most likely to garner wear as well as an integrated QD socket.
Really Right Stuff camera body plates are all custom designed for each camera body and precision machined from solid blocks of 6061-T6 aluminum. Fully compatible with 1.5" RRS Dovetail Standard, our plates feature precisely contoured anti-twist flanges for a perfect fit that prevents twisting between the camera and our plate. All of our quick-release plates utilize a custom machined 1/4"-20 threaded, captive-style mounting screw that threads into the tripod mounting socket of your camera body.
Our BM10 base replaces the Leica base. As part of a modular system, this replacement base functions as both a base for the bottom of the camera as well as a traditional camera mounting plate, but also has the added flexibility of accepting a separate dedicated vertical L-Component to create a fully modular L-plate with two dovetail mounting surfaces. You can purchase the dedicated vertical L-Component as a separate add-on, or as a set package with the base plate.
