This page looks at animal Eye AF of the Sony A1 using the Sony FE 600mm f/4 GM OSS on a tripod, but also with optical image stabilization enabled.
Turns out that a 600mm works great for feral cat pictures, as it at allows great images without distracting the cat. Focus here is mostly clos-range portraits and head shots.
