Hasselblad XCD 38mm f/2.5 Awful Focus Shift: Lens Should Not Have Made it Into Production

re: Hasselblad X2D and Hasselblad XCD 38mm f/2.5

This page confirms the stunningly awful sharpness-destroying rearward focus shift of the Hasselblad XCD 38mm f/2.5 previously seen in every field series I shot, such as Wooden Boardwalk, Dusk.

Focus Shift for Hasselblad XCD 38mm f/2.5 V, Ruler Example

A series from f/2.5 through f/8 is shown.

The optical design of the Hasselblad XCD 38mm f/2.5 V should never have made it into production. It is a fatally flawed optical design with no way to mitigate or compensate for the focus shift on the Hasselblad X2D other than guesstimates (as of late 2022).

UPDATE Jan 2024: firmware 1.1.1 or later offers a stopped-down focusing feature.
