Leica M11 Monochrom: Near-Infrared with B+W 092 Filter
re: infrared
re: Leica M11 Monochrom
This page looks at the near infrared response of the Leica M11 Monochrom sensor. Using such filtration extends the useful range of capture tonal relationships.
The M11M places a UV and infrared-blocking filter over the sensor. This is done to improve general image quality by blocking wavelengths that would otherwise cause a reduction in contrast primarily by differential focus (eg longitudinal chromatic aberration). But it does allow near-infrared to pass.
