The detail in this image really impressed me, especialy because wide open at f/2.8 it was already as good as most DSLRs with most lenses could hope to be by f/8 (sharpness and depth of field).
This example is a particularly effective one at showing the per-pixel benefits of the Sigma Foveon X3 true-color sensor.

The spot focus feature of the Sigma DP2M was used on the red star on the center bottle. This feature has shown an exceptional success rate for pinpoint focus, so good that it would be difficult to name a more accurate performance from any camera (probably the true color sensor and very high lens performance are involved, but the other DP Merrills have shown similar success).
