Sony 28mm f/2

Sony FE 28mm f/2 Introduction

The about $448 Sony 28mm f/2 fills out the mid-range prime lens lineup that includes the 35mm f/2.8 and 55mm f/1.8 and 90mm f/2.8, all of which are fine performers. With the additinoal Sony/Zeiss designs (including the zooms), the Sony FE lens line as of May 2015 covers a solid range addressing many shooting needs.

The Sony FE 28mm f/2 is a compact lens that accepts the Sony 21mm Ultra-Wide Conversion Lens and Sony 16mm Fisheye Conversion Lens for FE 28mm f/2 Lens, which were anounced simultaneously and can likely be assumed to have been optimized for the 28/2. This is a smart move that suddenly gives Sony shooters options for a 16mm f/3.5 fisheye and 21mm f/2.8 ultra wide angle prime, thus extending the lens lineup significantly. Oddly, there is no bundle option for the set (as of May 2015).
