Overview of Sony 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS
The about $1098 Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS is a medium telephoto macro lens for Sony full-frame mirrorless that focuses down to 1:1 magnification.
The 90/2.8 macro is a relatively large and heavy lens, similar in size and weight to the Sony 35mm f/1.4 Distagon. It feels rather larger on the Sony A7R II, but balances reasonably well and is not so heavy that one should be concerned about the strength of the lens mount.
The main issue with the 90/2.8 is that as a macro lens, the focus throw is very short with a rather twitchy focus-by-wire approach; it really is not anything like having a good manual focusing helicoid.
