Zeiss Touit 12mm f/2.8 Distagon

Aperture Series: Sharpness and Bokeh (Picnic Table, NEX-7)

This aperture series shows the sharpness and bokeh characteristics of the Touit 12mm f/2.8 Distagon using the 24-megapixel Sony NEX-7.

The camera was angled steeply down and almost on top of the picnic table, with focus on the metal bolts about 1/3 in. The camera is close to centered, but not necessarily square to the table, hence the lower corners can vary in sharpness (by camera/subject angle): there is a slight skew to the angle to the table. [The table is warped and along with some lens distortion it is very hard to judge alignment).

Exposure

The Sony NEX-7 was erratic in its exposure consistency (aperture priority), choosing shutter speeds that varied by 1/3 stop across apertures, and with unexplained variations in exposure. There were no clouds obscuring the sun.
