Zeiss Touit 12mm f/2.8
(Sony E mount)

Usage on Full-Frame Sensor for Classic Aspect Ratios (Sony A7R)

Shot with the 36-megapixel full-frame Sony A7R.

The Zeiss Touit 12mm f/2.8 Distagon is designed for cameras with an APS-C sensor. But on a camera like the full-frame Sony A7 or Sony A7R, all the classic aspect ratios open up, and yet with good quality and higher megapixels significantly beyond than the nominal APS-C coverage area.

Usable imaging area on a full-frame sensor is somewhat less than the Zeiss 50mm f/2.8M, but it is to be expected that an ultra-wide angle lens would have a smaller image circle than a much longer focal length sibling.

The field of view is so wide that the lens shade must be removed to enjoy the larger imaging area, and care should be taken not to place fingers near the edge of the lens, or the finger will be imaged!
