Canon’s MTF charts are computed, not measured, and thus represent a best-case (real lenses have to be manufactured and always there are deviations of many kinds). Moreover, Canon’s fantasy MTF charts do not take into account diffraction—fantasy MTF. Still, the general behavior can be garnered from the shape and height of the curves.

The small size and crude resolution of the MTF chart provided by Canon makes it somewhat difficult to distinguish what is what. Apertures f/4 and f/8 are included, each with 10 line pairs/mm (thick lines) and 30 line pairs/mm (thin lines) and each with sagittal (solid) and tangential/meridional (dashed) lines—eight lines in total.
