Canon 5D Mark III

Examples — Alpine Creek with 85/1.2L II

Examples on this page used the Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L II.

The 5D Mark III was set to single-shot autofocus with focus priority. All shots were taken using the center focus point, though a few were reframed slightly after focusing.

These images were taken as a field survey establish a sense of the autofocus accuracy, with f/1.2 being quite a challenge for accurate focus. No fine focus adjustment was used. All images taken handheld.

There are an unusually large number of examples on this page so as to give the very best idea of the focusing performance, without the bias of eliminating images; I images representative of the true camera behavior.

All of the images on this pages used auto exposure (aperture priority at f/1.2). Except as noted, no adjustments were made (though many images could have benefitted).
