Noise should be compared for the same reproduction ratio; per pixel noise is an erroneous way to compare noise, since higher megapixels means less enlargement. Hence this page compares the Canon 5DS R noise to that of the Canon 5D Mark III by downsampling to the 5DM3 resolution.
Due to different mounting brackets (no custom bracket available for 5DS R as this was shot), the images are slightly different in perspective. They have been aligned at center, and a slight crop done.
Images processed with Iridient Developer 3.0.3 due to the Adobe Camera Raw camera profile bug which delivers incorrect results with the Canon 5DS R.
Same exposure for both cameras using Zeiss Otus 85mm f/1.4 APO-Planar @ f/9. RawDigger confirms a perfect exposure for both cameras.
