Canon 85mm Lenses: Main Page

Canon offers two pro-grade 85mm lenses. The exciting lens is the 85mm f/1.2L II, but it is out of reach in price for many shooters (about $2100 vs about $400). So how does the 85mm f/1.8 hold up against the Bad Boy?

The right tool for the job

If you’re shooting at f/2.8 on up, the 85/1.8 is a very sharp, and the results show that.

The 85/1.2L II is a magical lens whose appeal does not result from being tack sharp; it’s more about the feel one gets from the beautiful creamy blur wide open. So when viewing the comparison, keep intended usage in mind.
