Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G ED

Compared: Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G vs Nikon 14mm f/2.8: White Mountains Road

This test is of a landscape scenario designed to ferret out field curvature issues, to give the 14/2.8 prime lens a chance to show that it can perform, somewhere. And to confirm the findings with the bristlecone comparison.

Exposure

Exposure was identical between lenses. The 14/2.8 produces a darker image here, just as in the bristlecone comparison. Though a change in lighting cannot be ruled out, the two examples agree that the 14-24 is a notably brighter lens than the 14/2.8.

Processing

Nikon Capture NX2 at Standard, followed by Photoshop Smart Sharpen {100, 0.2, 0}.
