Nikon D810
AF-S Nikkor 20mm f/1.8G ED

Aperture Series: Green and Orange Pumpkins (D810)

This lens rendering series is at close distance and is intended to show the overall rendering style as well as potential focus shift and depth of field, and to see if lens performance at close range is high quality (not so with some lenses).

The camera was nestled right down among the pumpkin vine leaves at quite close range here, somewhere in the range of 14-18 inches from the green pumpkin.

Orange and green pumpkins

The 20/1.8G test sample exhibited erratic exposure value (EV) behavior across apertures by as much as 1.5 stops. Frames here have been pushed or pulled as necessary.

  • Real world examples with insights found nowhere else. Make sharper images just by understanding lens behavior you won’t read about elsewhere.
  • Aperture series from wide open through stopped down, showing the full range of lens performance and bokeh.
  • Optical quality analysis of field curvature, focus shift, sharpness, flare, distortion, and performance in the field.
