Aperture Series f/1.4...f/11 — Silver Canyon Pine

Even at distance, the artistic versatility of an f/1.4 lens is worthwhile. My preference in this series is for the f/2 or perhaps the f/2.8 result, in terms of which frame has the best visual impact; a blend of sharpness coupled with some vignetting and still-good separation of foreground from background.

This series should be helpful in understanding the vignetting and subject separation from background possibilities, as well as sharpness off-center even at this significant distance of perhaps sixty feet (19m).

The camera was tilted up slightly, so that we cannot expect the zone of sharpness to cut through the tree evenly. Tgether with possible mild field curvature at this distance means that sharpness of various areas should be understood in context of the overall framing.
