Autofocus Errors, Varying Distance, D3x

These tests are with my December 2010 sample lens.
This page shows 5 pairs of images taken from about 120 feet away to about 20 feet away, using my Nikon D3x. Distance estimates are very approximate, and of no particular importance; the intent here is to show that the problem is not confined to any particular camera-to-subject distance.
The focusing error seems consistent enough to raise hope that the AF Fine Focus Adjust feature might address the issue, but field shooting in other circumstances raises doubts. Still, on well-defined targets like this, it might just work— to be investigated.
