Nikon 45mm f/2.8P

Aperture Series: Fruit Arrangement (Nikon D810)

Fruit medley

A lens need not be tack sharp to render a satisfying photographic, and the certainly the Nikon D810 sensor with good light as here makes a lovely image.

The main challenge with the 45/2.8 is focus shift (see bottom crop), but some care in focus and some stopping down mean that even this simple 4 element design can produce a very satisfactory image by f/8 - f/11, even if it does not fully utilize the sensor resolution as could a lens like the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM A, that lens being about 4X the size!
