Unlike Zeiss, Nikon, Canon and Sigma all “cheat” by using 10 and 30 line pairs/mm. A figure of 30 line pairs/mm is not quite adequate to show behavior on ultra high resolution cameras like the Nikon D3x, which use a pixel pitch of 84 line pairs/mm. A figure of 40 line pairs/mm (used by Zeiss and Leica) is much more appropriate (once the anti-aliasing filter is accounted for). Note that 40 lp/mm is much more demanding than 30 lp/mm, so one must not compare graphs directly. The spectral composition also matters, and this Nikon does not specify.
