These findings here match up with what one would expect and hope for from the camera for focus shift compensation for shooting aperture.
Focus shift compensation is a sophisticated feature found on few cameras, but it is a Very Good Thing if one is using the conventional autofocus system—shoot and let the camera worry about focus shift. However, if one is focusing manually (wide open) and then shooting stopped-down, the focus shift applies and sharpness will be damaged.
