Resolution: D3s vs D800 from ISO 100 to 12800 (Dolls)

This page compares the Nikon D800 36-megapixel resolution to the Nikon D3s 12-megapixel resolution across the 100 - 12800 ISO range.

The lens was the Zeiss 50mm f/2 Makro-Planar at f/8.

Comparison resolution

To both simulate a large print and to facilitate understanding the resolution differences, both images were upscaled to an arbitrary size of 9000 pixels wide, then given modest sharpening, somewhat less than would be ideal for a print, but enough to bring out the details suitable for screen viewing.
