This page looks at using multi-frame averaging for reducing noise on the Nikon D850 monochrome, but the same technique can be used on an unmodified camera of any brand, black and white or color. Well, the camera should have at least an EFC shutter for reasons of vibration.
Frame-averaged images are compared to a single shot, one from the camera itself, and one average in Photoshop.
The technique here takes remarkably little work, the main chore being taking the images, which could be fully automated at high speed, but Nikon screwed up its multiple exposure mode implementation.
