This is the precise spot focused upon using Live View.
The 14-24 and 24-70 and 16-35 hardly change from f/2.8 onwards, though the 14-24 shows its usual drop in micro contrast from f/4 to f/5.6.
The 16-35 seems particularl talented at 24mm, showing impressive micro contrast at f/5.6, which immediately suffers a slight loss of contrast at f/8 from diffraction, which declines further at f/11 - f1/6. When performance is tops at f/5.6, such differences become clear.
The 17-35 is hazy wide open at f/2.8, improving hugely to f/4, and catching up at f/5.6, but it never matches the 16-35 or 24-70 or 24/2, though it comes very close.
