SuperRes Mode: Motion in Landscape Scenes 'Wind in the Palms'
SuperRes pixel shift mode (“SR-PSM”) has the potential for a big leap up in quality by decreasing noise for long exposures. But when the subject matter is moving, it is like making multiple exposures and then combining, with the result that anything moving goes “out of register”.
With landscape photography there is often a great deal of movement: even a slight breeze makes leaves and grass gyrate, clouds scud across the sky and so on.
This example shows that Motion Correction is absolutely essential in outdoor scenes with any motion. This is a big problem with Adobe Camera Raw (ACR), since it appears that Adobe does not plan to support Motion Correction, thus forcing K1 users into Pentax Digital Camera Utility (unless some other raw converter implements support).
