For this test, both cameras were focused very accurately (confirmed at f/2.8):
As of late 2012, these were the best 28mm lenses available for these two cameras; my field testing does not suggest that the faster Leica 28/2 Summicron-M ASPH would be any better than the Leica 28/2.8 Elmarit-M ASPH here, and in fact the 28/2.8 is probably a better performer on this particular scene.
