Leica M Monochrom Typ 246

Examples: Just How Sharp is the Leica M Monochrom Typ 246?

The monochrome sensor in the Leica M Monochrom Typ 246 is capable of terrific sharpness. To realize that sharpness, the focus must be spot-on and the depth of field must be adequate (and in tight tolerance). These examples all meet those requirements and thus show the best possible performance one can expect, which is visibly less than the lens can deliver—one wishes for twice the megapixels, if only to reduce the crudeness of fine details (especially angled and curve very fine details) as sensor resolution is approached.

Examples are provided in various sizes up to native resolution. To understand the sharpness potential, it is suggested that the full-size image be viewed; scroll around it to see the performance.
