Irreversible Damage to Raw Files with Uncoded or Coded Lenses
This page applies to the Leica M10-R and Leica M10 Monochrom and Leica M11 and Leica M11 Monochrom and various other models. Leica will keep this dumpster fire design in place forever, it seems.
Behavioral issue: use of a lens profile results in modifications to the raw DNG files for color shading and vignetting (vignetting alone for mono). RAW ≠ RAW.
Risk of Damage: any situation in which the wrong lens profile is use results in incorrect and irreversible modifications to the raw DNG file. For example, a profile for a 1mm lens being applied to a 90mm lens, or vice versa.
