Leica M11

Monochrome Conversion from Color Images

Will Leica offer a 60-megapixel M11 Monochrom to complement the color Leica M11? Such a camera would offer spectacular sharpness.

Unlike its mirrorless competitors, the Leica M11 color sensor lacks PDAF pixels that can cause image defects, such as the horizontal white stripes of the Fujifilm GFX100S/100 or horizontal stripes of the Sony A1 (and every other mirrorless camera with PDAF).

This page shows examples when Leica M11 images are converted to monochrome using aggressive settings that for most cameras would provoke horizontal lines. Each example shows the settings used in the B&W Mixer in Adobe Camera Raw, as well as the color variant.
