Leica M240 — Intro

The new 24-megapixel Leica M240 is a game-changer, a breakthrough.

It’s not going to change the overall digital marketplace much (tiny, tiny volume), but the M240 makes the M platform accessible to a far wider customer base, and now applies to many more usage scenarios, as it addresses the key faults of the M9/M9P. Better yet, at about $6950, Leica has actually brought the price down over the M9/M9P.

The mid-range M-Ewhich has no Live View and is essentially an M9 is a dubious product given the modest $1500 price difference, which is less than the cost of one good Leica M lens (perhaps certain lifelong rangefinder users with perfect vision, or those who for some reason want the 18MP CCD sensor might find a few specific reasons, but they are rare cases)
