Voigtlander 35mm f/1.2

Voigtlander Nokton 35mm f/1.2 II ASPH Overview

I liked this lens immediately. The ergonomics are terrific (superior to the Leica 35/1.4 ASPH in my view), the speed is unbeatable (excepting the 50mm f/0.95 Noctilux), and the lens is very sharp wide open, with outstanding contrast.

The 35/1.2 showed up after dark one night. When I took it out to shoot that same night, I was struck by just how useful a lens it was in the dark— very easy to focus accurately with terrific feel to the focus ring, and very crisp results. I was very favorably impressed.

Availability

While you might have to wait a year or more for the Leica 35mm f/1.4 Summilux-M ASPH FLE, the Voigtlander 35/1.2 should be much more readily available. Watch for in-stock status using the Leica gear page.
