Leica 21mm f/3.4 Super-Elmar-M ASPH

Examples: Snow Biking in Cottonwood Canyon (M9)

This page is a narrative of a 2-hour bike ride in Cottonwood Canyon in the little-known White Mountains of California, just east of Bishop, CA and the California Sierra Nevada; riding up out of Cottonwood Canyon. Along with a few pictures taken just after the ride. November 5, 2011.

A camera tells a story— of moment, a day, a year, or longer. I have some personal interest in documenting my own bike rides or mountain climbs, etc, with bike rides being especially a challenge, because one is always reluctant to stop, especially when stopping means becoming cold when it’s well below freezing.

These are not cherry-picked images, just what can the camera and lens do when one is on a relatively fixed schedule, and the camera functions as a documentary device: do the camera and lens deliver with a minimum of fuss under demanding conditions? The answer is an emphatic “yes” for the M9P and the 21/23.4 Super-Elmar-M.
