Sony A7R
Leica 21mm f/3.4 Super-Elmar-M ASPH

Aperture Series: Pescadero Creek (Sony A7R)

The Sony A7R is a 36-megapixel mirrorless camera with a full-frame sensor incorporating micro lenses, which might be hoped to allay the ray angle issues that lead to color shading and excessive vignetting and loss of off-center sharpness.

This scene was chose to show definitively whether the 21/3.4 Super-Elmar-M performance is impaired on the Sony A7R sensor. The Novoflex Leica M to Sony NEX lens adapter was used.

Examination of the lens shows only a modest telecentricity, so the predicted behavior is that there will be significant impairment of image quality outside the central 1/2 of the frame.
