Leica 24mm f/3.8 Elmar-M ASPH

MTF: 24mm f/3.8 Elmar-M ASPH

MTF of the Leica 24mm f/3.8 Elmar-M ASPH is outstanding even wide open, but this is a computed (not measured value) fantasy MTF value that is neither a real measurement rom a real lens, but worse, does not take into account the sensor cover glass of a digital camera. So the chart is at best misleading for a real camera, particularly the 40MP Leica M10-R. Edge performance in real images is notably inferior to what the MTF chart claims.

Stopping down to f/5.6 produces results that are better than either of its two slower siblings. This lens shows only very mild field curvature*, and thus should be preferred for any planar (flat) subject matter. See the comparison against the Leica 24/2.8 Elmarit-M ASPH.
