Aperture Series: Inner Quad, From Under the Oaks (M240)
Like the Post Office Boxes series, this series utilizes a relatively distant focus near center to deliver sharpness right away at the periphery, which is closer: focus places the zone of sharp focus to optimize the field curvature for the scene.

Lighting was funky artificial stuff, so color was adjusted to taste.
Focus was at center, on the tree to the left of the global light. Since the foreground and periphery are closer to the camera, the forward field curvature is well matched to the “shape” of the layout, thus delivering good quality wide open, and very high sharpness across the field by f/4: scan across the image even at f/4, and observe that from center sharpness near the bright light, the image grows progressively less sharp to the right edge. Yet at left, the stonework is razor sharp by f/4; this is the field curvature arcing forward.
