Focus Shift Evaluation at MOD (Dolls, M240)

See also same scene with the 28mm f/2.8 Elmarit-M ASPH.

This page evaluates focus shift at minimum object distance (MOD). At MOD, focus shift can be more pronounced than at greater distance, but the 28/2 is prone to substantial focus shift at all distances.

Significant focus shift inflicts serious damage to image sharpness where intended/desired and thus makes obtaining optimal results on high-res digital cameras much more challenging. Focus shift is the elephant in the room, ignored when talking about sharpness, and yet little else matters when focus shift is strong.

For more on focus shift, see Making Sharp Images.
