Aperture Series: Sulfur Mine Processing Gear (Leica M10M)

This aperture series from f/2 through f/11 shows the performance on a finely detailed subject, evaluating sharpness in the plane of the subject as well as the gains in depth of field near-to-far.

Includes images at up to full camera resolution from f/2 to f/11.

Adobe Camera Raw 13.1.0.658. View ACR Settings. Diffraction mitigating sharpening for f/8, f/11.

Overall the image looks good, but clear limitations can be seen at f/2 and f/2.8 in the outer zones across the processing unit—not until f/4 is full sharpness reached across the mining gear. Some of this is probably due to field curvature (arcing forward in the mid zones) which makes the results marginal at f/2 and f/2.8 in the outer zones. Bottom line is that use of f/4 is the minimum for for any planar or semi-planar subject like this.
